Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop- Chalk It Up

Welcome to the Stampers with an Attitude Blog Hop!

Who are the Stampers with Attitude????  This is the team led by my upline Kimberly Moss!!!

If you are coming here from Belinda’s Blog you are on the right path.

Today I want to show you the layout I created for my team’s swap :)

This layout is from a pattern in Make It From Your Heart Vol 1.  I used Chalk It Up school paper for the base of the layout, along with the star pattern.  I also used Sorbet, Lagoon and White Daisy Cardstock.  I used the School Years Stamp set along with Glitter Glam stamp set.  The title was created using Cricut Craft Room using the fonts from Artise and Artbooking.  I embellished with Black Shimmer Trim and Silver Sequins.  Finally, I drew lines free-hand around the edges of the White Photo mats with the CTMH journaling pen.

I can’t wait to put some back to school pics on this layout…. my kids go back to school in 2 weeks.

You can see more of my Chalk It Up artwork HERE :)

The next team member on our blog hop is Christy– be sure to check out her fabulous Chalk It Up artwork.  Be sure to leave a comment too :)

The beginning of a new year is a time for regrouping and reorganizing. So far, my husband and I have cleaned out the refrigerator, under the sink, and then I conquered the big doozy: my overstuffed wallet and bag. After I collected the loose change from the bottom of my bag and filed away the receipts, I noticed that I had an awful lot of old credit cards and expired insurance cards in there.

As I was cutting them up, I had a burst of creative inspiration: All these colorful squares of plastic would make lovely mosaic! I added a few old MetroCards, used gift cards (after the holidays we sure have a lot of those!), and even those fake credit cards that come in the mail. If you don’t have enough on your own, ask around: I’m sure lots of people you know have old plastic cards they don’t need anymore, but just don’t get tempted to use them!

What you’ll need:

  • Wood frame or mirror (I used a cheap Ikea mirror I bought a while back)
  • Paint and brush (you can use acrylic craft paint or even house paint)
  • Plastic cards in assorted colors (for a 10×10 frame, I used 12 cards)
  • Craft glue for wood and plastic such as Beacon Multi-Grip
  • Sharp household scissors
A few of the old cards I used. That one on top is fake, so don’t try to use it!

1. Gather your collection of plastic. You can use old credit cards, gift cards, Starbucks cards, MetroCards (and other transportation cards), and expired health insurance cards.

I used some old house paint I had lying around to paint the frame.
