She is not alone.
I have an aunt who has been battling breast cancer for the last little while. I’d like to be able to say she’s been fighting it off for many years, but sadly that’s not the case. Her cancer has spread to various parts of her body, her spine being the most painful, and she is in excruciating pain all the time. It’s heartbreaking for me to say she has nearly come to the end of her journey, and her biggest wish right now is to get out of the hospital where she’s been for the last 3 weeks and die in the home that she loves.
I made this project for her so that she would have a visual reminder that she is not alone, that her family members are surrounding her with their love and prayers, that we are all here to support her and help her as best we can, but most importantly that God is with her, right beside her, waiting to carry her home.
So….I bought this print in an etsy shop called Jessica Swift. Jessica’s shop is full of beautiful simply said prints like this one. There are several others I’d like to get my hands on too. Like this one here and this one here and I would love to buy this one here for my little girl’s bedroom.
This is what it looked like before:

I added a few details to it. I used cherry red Staz-On ink to ink up a chipboard heart from Maya Road, then I glossed over that with Glossy Accents and a bit of Stickles for sparkle. I stamped those wings using Heidi Swapp clear acrylic stamps (love these). I drew a line around the edges to kind of set it off. Then I mounted the print onto black cardstock and put it in a frame. That ribbon is from American Crafts.
Here’s the after shot:
(please ignore the window reflection in the frame!)
A closer look:
This was one of those times where I had to work with what I had. I really wanted to use red ribbon or white ribbon, but I felt that it really needed to be the wider type of ribbon, and this was all I had. I don’t have local stores here, so it was this or nothing. Hence, I went with this. I also thought about painting the frame itself red, but my aunt and uncle’s house is just lots of wood, paneled walls, wood picture frames, etc., so I knew this would go along better with everything already in their decor.
What do you think?

You brought tears to my eyes. In church this morning, our Pastor said that we should never forget the promisses God made for us in his word, and what better way to do it than visually.I pray for your aunt!
Corinna, this is beautiful, your aunt will love it. I am praying for her and your family. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I look forward to working with you on the DT!
This is so lovely, Corinna, and I’m sure your aunt was completely touched by your thoughtfulness. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this experience by contributing my print to your project– I hope your aunt is comfortable where she is and that her remaining time is as joyful as can be. All my best.
