Cards For Kids!

January 25th, 2010

I follow along with the amazingly talented Jennifer McGuire on her blog (and in Creating Keepsakes magazine).  Recently she has been holding a card drive for some sick children (strangers to her), and after seeing a photo of this little boy named Braden I was inspired to get busy and finally crank out a few cards to send in for her.  She’s even offering prizes, and who doesn’t love that?  Here are some that I sent her today in the mail for Braden (and his big brother and parents) and two other chilren also whose names I can’t recall right now!  Sheesh, my brain is tired!

This one’s for the parents:

See the dots of Stickles?  (have I mentioned my L-O-V-E for Stickles?)

Something that really bugged me about these cards was that I used an adhesive I’d never tried before from Oriental Trading Company and wasn’t really please with how the paper kind of “buckled” for lack of a better word.  Once I saw these photos I couldn’t stand it, and I went back and fixed them with more adhesive.

All the chipboard pieces (sailboat, robot, rocket, and flower) are beautiful and are from an old Creating Keepsakes Kit Of The Month that I got for a STEAL at last year’s convention in St. Louis.

All the froggy rub-ons are from Creative Imaginations, one of my favorite companies.  They come in a swatch book.  Love these.

I don’t usually make kids’ cards, but I had so much fun making these because there’s no pressure!  They’re just gonna be so happy to receive a card in the mail!  I am planning on making some more for Jennifer’s card drive.  If you’re interested in helping out with that by sending in some cards of your own or a couple bucks for postage, go to her post here that tells all about it.

What do you think?  If you were a little boy, would YOU like these?
