Sunday Shutterbugs

October 12th, 2009

Week two of the Sunday Shutterbugs blog is here.  Edie and I have both posted our photos and encourage others out there to leave us a link to theirs.  Next week we’re gonna go with a theme for our pictures, so stay tuned.  Go check it out here.

A special book for a special someone.

October 10th, 2009

I made this altered composition book for my friend Anita to be used as a journal of sorts.  She has been battling cancer for 3 years now and I know that she likes to keep journals so I made this one special for her.  Those of you who read my blog regularly will know that Anita is my new friend who lives in Canada, and so many people helped me make a trip from Illinois to Canada last March to deliver a scrapbook to Anita in person.

The cover says “You Are Here” on the heart and then I used letter stickers underneath that to say “on angels wings” to let her know that they are there carrying her and helping her beat the cancer.

Those wings are made from plastic that was some scrapbook embellishment package.  I used alcohol inks on the back sides of the wings (my second time using them).

Those are Making Memories pink ledger stickers.  I love these things!

Anita, if you are reading this, know that I think of you often and I pray for you and I hope you are doing well.  You will always have a special place in my heart.

Everyday moments.

October 8th, 2009

Life is made up of everyday moments.  My scrapbooks are filled with everyday moments.  Here’s another one that I wanted to share with you.  We were on our way to a Labor Day family cookout, driving in the car, and I turned around to look at my daughter and noticed something beside her in the seat.

You see that?  That’s my girl’s American Girl doll.  All buckled up to keep her safe, of course!  I have no idea why she’s sitting on a pillow. ha ha

Man, I love this kid.  Have I mentioned that before?  :)

Sunday Shutterbugs

October 8th, 2009

So my friend Edie and I both love photography and both want to have a job as a photographer someday and have photography discussions a lot so we decided to start a blog where we share our photos.  I had read about several others who post every day, but we just don’t have the time for that so I suggested we show our photo on Sunday, and Edie came up with the cute name.  Don’t you love it?

Anyway….. every Sunday we are going to share our photos on the blog and we encourage everyone else to take a photo the following week and come back to our blog and leave us a link so we can all hop around the internet and see all kinds of different photos taken by different people.  Doesn’t that sound like fun?

So go to Sunday Shutterbugs here and check it out!

Irony….

October 7th, 2009

Do you see it?  Do you see the irony?

 blog-sign.jpg

I printed this sign up the other day for my daughter, who I catch eating in the family room all the time (the eating isn’t the problem; it’s the leaving trash everywhere!) and who is always saying, “Oops, I forgot!”  Uh-huh.

Anyway, I typed up this sign partly to be funny and partly as a reminder to Summer (I hung it on the dog gate that you have to open before going into the family room!).

And then lo and behold, yesterday I walk in there and look at the gate and the 2 dogs are on the other side of it looking at me through the bars all cute-like.  And then I see the sign.  I just cracked up laughing.

Scrapbook News & Review July 2009

October 4th, 2009

I forgot to mention to you all that I got published in an online scrapbooking e-zine called Scrapbook News & Review.  If you are a subscriber, you might have seen my mermaid swim party invitation!

I’m not a big purchaser of online stuff because I already sit in front of my computer all day and I want to be able to lounge on the couch while I read my scrapbooking magazines.  But I got a free copy of the issue because I’m in it and WOW.  It’s a really great magazine showcasing a ton of talented ladies!  You should go check it out and get inspired.

Creative Mini Albums…

October 3rd, 2009

Yay!  I’m featured today on the Creative Mini Albums blog.  They show a cute little 6-page accordian album I made for my husband a while back.  My daughter drew on the cover and she got to pick all the photos for it from her younger days.  Go check me out here.

Bridal Shower Card.

October 3rd, 2009

Someone popped the question and someone said yes……..

I was hired to make 20 bridal shower cards for my step-granddaughter and thought just for fun (and because she’d done photo save the date cards and photo wedding invites) I’d use one of her engagement photos that hubby and I took.  This photo is my favorite from the second round of photos, and since these two are (as Danielle describes it) “camoed up” I thought I’d use green and brown mats on the card to match them!  I am entertaining the thought of using my photo editing software to print the words directly onto the photograph instead of the strips of cardstock.  I would love other opinions.  What do YOU think?

P.S.  Please ignore the gaping white hole in Zach’s chest.  I should have turned off the camera flash!  ha ha

Engagement photo projects.

October 2nd, 2009

So you might remember me showing you the first round of engagement photos we did for hubby’s granddaughter.  (if you haven’t seen those you can check them out on the blog here and here.)  Well, check out how she turned one of them into a “save the date” postcard!  This is one of the photos that my hubby took that turned out pretty awesome.

Then she used one of the photos from our round 2 photo shoot (I haven’t shown you those yet–just finished editing them all) and used it for part of her wedding invitation.  I love this idea and think it’s a great looking invitation.  She printed all the wedding info on vellum and put the photo underneath (tied together with ribbon).  I love it!  This is one of the photos that I took.
