I hate ants.

June 6th, 2008

It’s summer time now and RAINY season, so that means that every time it rains the ants decide to take cover in my house.  I hate ants!  Anyway, they’re everywhere and I want them gone.  I need help, people.  I need advice.  I’m out of Raid Ant Spray and I have vowed to use some sort of “natural” remedy so I don’t have to buy a $6 can of Raid I can’t afford.  Who’s got a brilliant solution?  Leave me a comment PLEASE!

Did I mention I hate ants?

New haircut, new kid?

June 4th, 2008

So my daughter turns 8 and with that newfound maturity (I guess) she decided she wanted to cut her hair.  When I asked her how short, she pointed to the lower jawbone and I thought she’d change her mind once we got to the salon.  But she didn’t.  I warned her that I might cry so she actually made me leave the salon and go outside and sit in the car so she could surprise me.  I think she didn’t want me to embarrass her with my sobbing!

Yeah, I know it’s just hair.  It grows back.  I’m glad she HAS hair.  She was disappointed that it hadn’t grown long enough to donate it to Locks of Love like she did last year.  But she just looks so DIFFERENT to me.  She’s not my little girl any more.  She’s an 8-year-old girl and I’m not sure I’m ready for that yet.

Birthday party for charity idea.

June 3rd, 2008

So my daughter had her 8th birthday last week.  She wanted to have a pet theme and asked her guests to bring supplies for the local animal shelter instead of gifts.  She got this idea because some friends of hers had done it a few years ago, and I thought it was great that she wanted to do it.  Considering she only invited 9 kids, I think she got quite a lot of loot for the animals.  This is definitely going in the scrapbook!

And that’s the news…………

June 2nd, 2008

Last month I wrote about Summer’s little endoscopy hospital adventure here http://www.myscrapbooklife.com/summers-hospital-adventure/ and I hadn’t realized that I never updated further than that until I had a couple of people e-mail me and ask!  So here’s the newest news…

We took Summer to see the ENT as the gastro doc had suggested.  I prepared Summer ahead of time that they might spray something in her nose and then stick a tube in there (which she wouldn’t feel of course) to look at her throat and tonsils.  I’ve had it done and no big deal, and I didn’t want her to freak out from not expecting it.  So she was a bit nervous, and the doctor walked into the exam room, asked me a few questions about her snoring and trouble breathing, etc.  He told Summer to open her mouth, took one look in there and said, “Oh yeah, those need to come out.”  I said, “WHAT?  That’s it?  That’s all you need to do?”   The doctor says, “Well, they’re huge.  I can’t see her adenoids.  They both need to come out.”  Allrighty.  So she is scheduled to have surgery on July 2.  I can hardly wait………..NOT.

So just to change the subject I’m gonna show you a layout from when Summer was 3 years old.  Even then that kid loved to paint and create things.  It’s very simple, but it’s one of my favorite pages because it has her handprint on it and while my scrapbooking style may have changed since then, the desire to record little things like that has not.
