What do you do for scrapper’s block?
Something that I know happens to all of us at one time or another is losing the mojo. No motivation to scrap. Ya kinda wanna scrap but ya kinda don’t :) Usually scrapbooking is all I think about, but sometimes I just don’t feel like figuring out all the things that have to be done to complete a page. That’s when I turn to a few things to break the scrapper’s block.
Probably my favorite thing to do for motivation is to make a mini book. I love mini books because it’s easy to pick the papers, (different patterns in coordinating colors or different shades of the same color), they’re quick and easy to put together because they’re smaller, a couple hours later or half a day later you’ve got a project done and something to show for it. I love being productive.
I actually plan my mini books out ahead of time as far as picking the pictures and separating them into different containers that are labeled with what the mini book will be about. For instance, I have a box with photos for Me & Summer, a box with photos for Daddy & Summer, a box of photos of my best friend from our teenage years. These are constantly being planned in my head when I’m shopping and when I find an embellishment or a paper I want to use for a particular mini album I’ll buy it and bring it home to file in the box with the specific photos I have in mind. Hopefully when the mojo disappears I can just open up my photo box and find all the stuff I need in it to make my mini book!

Well this should come as no surprise to you.. But I clean and organize my stuff. Its kinda neat getting everything out and revamp the way I organize it, almost gives it a new life. Also gets me reaquainted with goodies I may have forgotten. Then once everything is put anyway, I get that creative buzz.
The other thing I do is look online at some galleries like scrap-room, and 2peas. Scrap-room has monthly challenges so that also helps.
I also have learns that its okay to just take a break. Maybe give it a rest for a night or two. Watch a movie, read a book, etc.

I do the same thing with the boxes! That’s so funny! I have a generic “minis” box where I put ideas and a few supplies as my plans are being formulated.
Then I have a “graduates” box where I stash supplies and ideas. Whenever one of DH’s nephews graduates from high school I make a gift album for them (ABC). So during the year I stash anything there that I think I can use for one of the kids. 2 down, 2 to go!
But I also do what Edie does. Normally I resent the time I spend on the mini albums (they are all for gifts usually) and would prefer to keep working on my “regular” layouts.
Challenges gets me motivate sometimes. Just taking a break from scrapping helps me too. Which I have not wanted to scrap for a long time. i am slowly trying to get out of this slump.
